寂寞是表示冷清孤单人的形容词。人是具有社会属性的生灵，人不可能一个人生活。当个人离开群体过久后，人性就会以一种手段惩罚个人。这种手段叫寂寞。由于网络的发展，创造了“寂寞”句式。1. 空虚无物。《吕氏春秋·审分》：“是故於全乎去能，於假乎去事，於知乎去几，所知者妙矣。若此则能顺其天，意气得游乎寂寞之宇矣。”《淮南子·俶真训》：“天含和而未降，地怀气而未扬，虚无寂寞，萧条霄雿。”《文选·沉约<齐故安陆昭王碑文>》：“风尘不起，囹圄寂寞。”吕向注：“寂寞，言空虚也。”2. 寂静无声；沉寂。《楚辞·刘向<九叹·忧苦>》：“巡陆夷之曲衍兮，幽空虚以寂寞。”王逸注：“寂寞，无人声也。”晋 谢道韫 《登山》诗：“巖中间虚宇，寂寞幽以玄。”老舍《微神》：“﹝小房子﹞里边什么动静也没有，好象它是寂寞的发源地。”3. 引申指辞世。唐杜甫《凤凰台》诗：“西伯今寂寞，凤声已悠悠。”唐元稹《赠吴渠州从姨兄士则》诗：“宁氏舅甥俱寂寞，荀家兄弟半沦亡。”明方孝孺《上巳约友登南楼》诗：“古人已寂寞，继者应在今。”4. 清静；恬淡；清闲。《文子·微明》：“道者，寂寞以虚无，非有为於物也。”《淮南子·原道训》：“其魂不躁，其神不娆，湫漻寂寞，为天下枭。”高诱注：“寂寞，恬淡也。”明归有光《容春堂记》：“山水之名胜，必於宽闲寂寞之地，而金马玉堂紫扉黄阁不能兼而有也。”5. 稀少。南朝 梁 沉约 《齐明帝哀策文》：“纪事寂寞，龟书可循。”唐王度《古镜记》：“侯生常云：‘昔者，吾闻黄帝铸十五镜，其第一横径一尺五寸，法满月之数也。以其相差各校一寸，此第八镜也。’虽岁祀攸远，图书寂寞，而高人所述不可诬矣。”6. 冷清；孤单。三国 魏曹植《杂诗》之四：“闲房何寂寞，绿草被阶庭。”唐李朝威《柳毅传》：“山家寂寞兮难久留，欲将辞去兮悲绸缪。”《水浒传》第十一回：“﹝林冲﹞蓦然想起：‘我先在京师做教头，每日六街三市游翫吃酒，谁知今日被高俅这贼坑陷了我这一场，文了面，直断送到这里，闪得我有家难奔，有国难投，受此寂寞！’”明 冯梦龙 《喻世明言》第一卷：“三巧儿一日不见他来，便觉寂寞，叫老家人认了薛婆家里，早晚常去请他，所以一发来得勤了。”茅盾《子夜》三：“一种孤独无依，而又寂寞无聊的冷味，灌满了他的‘诗人的心’了。”毛泽东《蝶恋花·答李淑一》词：“寂寞嫦娥舒广袖，万里长空且为忠魂舞。”李二和《思想的魅力》：“不朽的思想从来就甘受寂寞与屈辱，而不会随行就势、行季节之风。”释义寂寞：一种介于孤独，落寞之间的思绪。一般指的是亲人，朋友，或者想念的人不在身边的时候，而自己又特别思念他们的时候的心情。又有一种寂寞的意思是指，没人了解自己的想法，所谓高手寂寞，就是这个意思。
