雾都孤儿读书报告Review of ‘Oliver Twist’
As you have read ‘Oliver Twist’, a novel reflecting the tragic fact of the life in Britain in 18th century which has became one of the most famous works of Charles Dickens, you can really understand the worlds‘regain the nature of goodness’.
Charles Dickens was born in a poor family ,having a poor background ,he wrote this novel in his twenties ,who was just with a view to reveal the ugly masks of those cruel criminals,as well as to expose the horror and violence hidden underneath the narrow and dirty streets in London.
The hero of ‘Oliver Twist’ was an orphan named Oliver Twist, when he was born ,he was thrown into a world which is full of poverty and crime. He has suffered enormous pains, such as hunger, thirst, beating and abuse. While reading the tragic experiences of the little Oliver, I was shocked by his sufferings. I felt really sorry for the poor boy, but at the same time I detest the evil Fagin and the brutal Bill. To my relief, as all the happy stories do, the goodness eventually conquered devil and Oliver lived a
happy life at the end. One of the plots which attracted me most is that after the theft, little Oliver was allowed to recover in the kind care of Mrs. Maylie and Rose and began a new life. He went for walks with them, or Rose read to him, and he worked hard at his lessons. He felt as if he had left behind forever the world of crime and hardship and poverty.
Sometimes,in the deep and quiet nights,I keep asking myself, how can such a little boy who had already suffered oppressive affliction remain pure in body and mind? The reason is the nature of goodness. I think it is the most important information implied in the novel by Dickens-he believed that goodness could conquer every difficulty. Although I don’t think goodness is omnipotent, yet I do believe that those who are kind-hearted live more happily than those who are evil-minded.
Reflect on myself,I define the nature of goodness to be one of the most necessary character for a person. Goodness is to humans what water is to fish. He who is without goodness is an utterly worthless person. On the contrary, as the famous saying goes, ‘The fragrance always stays in the hand that gives the rose’, he who is with goodness undoubtedly is a happy and useful person. People receiving his help are grateful to him and he also gets gratified from what he has done, and thus he can do good to both the people he has helped and himself. To my disappointment, nowadays some people seem to doubt the existence of the goodness in humanity. They look down on people’s honesty and kindness, thinking it foolish of people to be warm-hearted. As a result, they show no sympathy to those who are in trouble and seldom offer to help others. On the other hand, they attach importance to money and benefit. In their opinion, money is the only real object while emotions and morality are nihility. If they cannot get profit from showing their ‘kindness’, they draw back when others are faced with trouble and even hit a man when he is down. They are one of the sorts that I really detest.
There are some worlds in an essay, ‘Goodness, of all virtues and dignities of the mind, is the greatest, being the character of the Deity, and without it, man is a busy, mischievous, wretched thing, no better than a kind of vermin.’.
All in all,if a person without goodness ,he is destined to lose everything. Thereby, all those ‘vermin-to-be’ should learn from the book and remember to regain the nature of goodness in the bottom of theirs’hearts.
小王子读书报告Keep the Childlike Innocence
I. Introduction
The Little Prince first published in 1943, is a novella and the most famous work of the French aristocrat, writer, poet and pioneering aviator Antoinede Saint-Exupéry(1900–1944).The novella is both the most read and most translated book in the French language, and was voted the best book of the 20th century in France. Translated into more than 250 languages and dialects, and it has become one of the best-selling books ever published. Saint-Exupéry, a laureate of several of France's highest literary awards and a reserve military pilot at the start of the Second World War, wrote and illustrated the manuscript while exiled in the United States after the Fall of France. He had travelled there on a personal mission to persuade its government to quickly enter the war against Nazi Germany. In the midst of personal upheavals and failing health he produced almost half of the writings he would be remembered for, including a tender tale of loneliness, friendship, love and loss, in the form of a young prince fallen to Earth. An earlier memoir by the author recounted his aviation experiences in the Sahara and he is thought to have drawn on those same experiences for use as plot elements in The Little Prince. II. A Summary of The Little Prince
The Little Prince tells a story like that: A pilot crashes in the Sahara Desert. A thousand miles from any habitation, while attempting to fix his plane, he meets a strangely dressed little boy who seems to have come from nowhere, and who demands that he draw a sheep. "When a mystery is too overpowering, one dare not disobey," so the pilot attempts to draw a sheep. Gradually the little prince reveals his story. He comes from a small asteroid, where he lives alone until a rose grows there. But the rose is demanding, and he is confused by his feelings about her. Eventually he decides to leave, and journey to other planets in search of knowledge. After meeting many confusing adults, he eventually lands on Earth, where he befriends a snake and a fox. The fox helps him to understand the rose, and the snake offers to help him return to his planet -- but at a price. From my point of view, The Little Prince is not simply a fairy tale, but a philosophical novel. The author reveals the absurdity of the civilized world through the eyes of the little prince, who has a pure heart and a true world.
III. My Views on The Little Prince
The use of the symbols makes the story full of meanings and more vivid. Firstly, the setting is in the Desert of Sahara. As for me, desert is pure land in some way, not yet the invasion of the modern civilization. Only in such a place, can love, responsibility and the human nature be revealed fully. Secondly, the first creature the little prince encountered was the snake. In the west, the snake represents mystery and power. In the story, the snake is “ more powerful than the finger of a king” and has the prophet for everything. The snake thought the prince was “innocent and true” while “this earth made of granite” , so finally it sent the little prince back to his planet. What the snake said tell the darkness and evil of the human, the little prince is not suitable to live in such a place. Thirdly, the choice of the fox is also meaningful. In people’s eyes, the fox is always filled with wisdom. In the story, the fox is just like a philosopher, giving the prince advice and inspiring him to understand the meaning of love, the responsibilities for his rose, and the difference between “alike” and “unique”. The fox told the little prince his secret: “It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye”, but “the men have forgotten this truth”.
The words satires the ignorance of human beings who do not even know the true essence of love and friendship. Meanwhile, it reminds us that we should be responsible for our love, to be true. In the story, it describes the people such as the king, the conceited man, the tippler, the businessman and so on. They represent all manner of man in the earth with their own symbolic meanings.
The story is made up of philosophical sentences, from which we can gain a good deal of enlightenment. I will take some as examples. In chapter 17, the snake told the prince “It is also lonely among men”. As for me, nowadays people is becoming busy and ambitious, they no longer have time to care about others, even their friends just for pursuing their own goals. We can see the alienation between them. It reminds me of the masterpiece Moby Dick written by Herman Melville. Because of the alienation between man and man, they can not unite together, which lead to a tragedy in the end. In chapter 10, the king said:” You shall judge yourself that is the most difficult thing of all. It is much more difficult to judge oneself than to judge others. If you succeed in judging yourself rightly, then you are indeed a man of true wisdom”. I can not agree it more. As Plato said:”know yourself”, which is a important principle for us to live. It is of great importance to know who we are, what we have done and for what. Only if we can truly know ourselves, can we make the right choice, not blind for seeking for something meaningless. As the lamplighter said, “ It is impossible for a man to be faithful and lazy at the same time.” This sentence illustrates the old saying” You can’t have your cake and eat it too”, things are always like that, admittedly, human is greedy sometimes.
The Little Prince almost covers all aspects of life, including friendship, love, responsibilities, freedom and so on. It can be said as a guidance for a better life, better society. We’d better be childish in our deep heart and soul.

Tomorrow is a New Day ——Reading on Gone With the Wind
American writer Margaret Mitchell wrote a work merely on the legendary place in the literacy circles of writers, her only work Gone with the Wind has become the United States’ best-selling works of fiction overnight .November 8th, 1900, Margaret Mitchell was born in Atlanta, home of a lawyer. Since childhood, the Civil War, which happening in Atlanta, has become the topic. Of course Atlanta became the natural background of the novel. Margaret has spent ten years’ time to write the novel and half a year’s time to cross-check fiction historical events involved in the specific time and place.
Gone with the Wind is a novel describes love. Margaret used her female fine and smooth to grasp young women’s complicated psychological activities exactly when they are seeking for love ,modeling this novel’s complex figure Scarlett successfully .Sometimes, this figure was very familiar to us ,but sometimes very strange. Sometimes we could understood her,but sometimes we thought she was unintelligible. However, we could fell she was very authentic from beginning to the end , these were this book’s greatest achievements. Scarlett was young and beautiful but what she had did show her cruel and greedy. In order to re-energize her family property, she took her love and marriage as

business. She had three marriages, but she was not sincere at all. Finally, she found that, Ashley, the man she kept in mind constantly was weak and incompetent in character. But the man named Rhett Butler was worthwhile to be loved.
From the view of appreciation of the beauty, the person who had a complicated character could not be intaken into a negative character simply. In previous novels, the author used to shape the character in a simple way. Gone with the Wind has broken this descriptive method. The novel by the characters presented to us are both positive and negative of the combination.
Scarlett, the leading character in the novel, impressed me the most. So I want to talk something about her. Her character was very complex. She was childish and optimistic. She had a tense feeling and her feeling was apt to be revealed. In the meanwhile, she was self-willed and like a bear with a sore head. She was also quite responsible for her own action. She was not good at analyzing and introspection. These characters made her use six or seven years’ experiences to realize that the unwilling love was wrong. This kind of love was just a fine kink but not real exist. From another point of view, I appreciate Scarlett’s brave and strong. When she faced difficulties she would say: Tomorrow is another day. Yeah, what a reasonable sentence. It’s of great philosophic theory. It told us to be confident to life. When I meet difficulty, I will tell myself: tomorrow is another day.
Gone with the Wind has a very significant position in our society. We feel America is an incredible and strange country, but Gone with the Wind uncovers her too softhearted veil, making people see many things that dirty and glorious are coexisted. It also has a special significance to adolescents. This novel became famous overnight as soon as it published. This novel which reached a length of 1000 pages shocked American. The movie Gone with the Wind was adapted from this novel. The movie made the novel even more famous. It is quite worth reading.

On Vicky Phillips’ Education in Cyberspace
This is a paper about online teaching. The author is Vicky Phillips.Vicky Phillips is a pioneer in adult education and distance learning, and founder and CEO of “Geteducated.com”.She is the author of the well-known book Never Too Late to Learn: The Adult Student’s Guide to College.
This paper is a business trip around the run into a problem launch. once the author on a business trip a man asked her what she did for a living. The author gave him an honest answer without think. To make him understand, the author explained a lot.
Through detailed introduction of the author, we got she designed America’s first online counseling center for distance learners. Distance learning, or educational programs where pupil and professor never meet face-to-face, are nothing new. And the author taught psychology and career development .Her post is the World Wide Web. Posting assignments to electronic bulletin boards and sending graded papers across the international phone lines in traffic-free email packets. From the author, it is hard to imagine teaching anywhere other than in the liberal freedom that is cyberspace. In cyberspace, teachers listen, read, comment and reflect on what students have to say--each of them in turn .What they know, they must communication to teachers in

words .They cannot sit passively in the back row twiddling their mental thumbs as the clock ticks away. This can be very good to promote students' autonomous learning, let the students from the heart to learn. What’s more , Education in Cyberspace is beneficial to the old .They are telecommuting to campus because they could not ,or would not ,uproot their careers and kids or grandkids to move to a college campus—an entity modeled after the learning monasteries of medieval times .A cyber-education suits the old because it respects their abilities to define for themselves what knowledge is and to go after it .It encourages them to argue their points and their perspectives without the interference of a professor, who might be tempted to step in to “clam down ”or “refocus” an otherwise wonderfully enlightening classroom debate . In today's society, some people think that, along with the rapid popularization of the Internet, network education will be on the traditional education in a profound revolution, will eventually replace the traditional education.
There is no denying the fact that set up network school and develop the network education, education teaching reform to bring new life and opportunity, but I still think: the network education can't replace the traditional education.
First, network education the drawbacks
To guarantee the quality of network teaching depend on many factors common USES, such as teaching both parties must have a computer hardware technology environment, must have access to, network must be clear, more important is, teaching the two sides also must have appropriate technology level. In addition, the network teaching because of the space, the teacher unique personality charm, sings in the teaching with the student emotion, moral, of knowledge and ability to achieve the effect of teaching, the teacher also difficult to be network teaching the multi-level teaching and teach students in accordance with their aptitude, some in the name of the upper borrow online, all day in the stroll online. Most online schools cannot form new mode of learning, and is still traditional education model alternatives. An online school quality also is intermingled, much online service position is not clear. Second, the advantages of the traditional education
Traditional education is a closed, force-feeding teaching too, but its basic form position is still network education cannot replace. The traditional education network education have class than study atmosphere, the teachers and students to exchange, classroom teaching is easy to control, easy to learning motivation and other advantages, in addition, documented learning resources network digital learning
resources than more easy to use and carry, network education is also has many advantages, but it can only to the traditional education in a supplementary role, should not also can't replace the traditional education.
With the development of the society, our life is more and more digital, with the development of science and technology, and remote education also became more and more popular. But now there is no complete popularity. In China, we are still in a traditional teaching primarily. Only some remedial class, may be online.
In my opinion, distance education, advantages and disadvantages. Online teaching, teachers don't have to eat chalk. Such a body good. And do not go out and then can learn much knowledge, convenient. But, this only part of it to learn useful talent. Some people don't want to learn might just deal with the teacher just, and not himself to learn. You can call others generation homework to do. Because the teacher simply can't see, network after all is unreal.

Jane Austen's novel Pride and Prejudice is a lighthearted tale of love and marriage in eighteenth-century England. It centers on the elder sisters of the Bennet family, Jane and Elizabeth. Their personalities, misunderstandings and the roles of pride and prejudice play a lavishing story. This story is told from third point of view. From my perspective Jane Austen wanted to convey love wins over prejudice and to not just take in the saying of first impression but to look in the person's character deeper. Jane Austin was born in 1775 in Stevenson, Hampshire. Her family wasn't rich but managed to give her a decent education. She was the seventh of eight children of her father, a clergyman. Like other young women of her social class, Jane and her sister Cassandra were educated mostly at home in subjects of music, drawing, painting, needlework, and social behavior. Her father's encouragement and her own enjoyment in reading led Jane to became very well read. At fourteen she began to write little plays for home theatricals. She also wrote nonsense story's to entertain her family. Jane would spend the majority of the evening in the corner of the room with her manuscript and blotter observing the world surrounding her. She would write when the room was quiet and if she were interrupted, she would cover her manuscript with a blotter and continued when the room was silent again. Before Jane Austen died of cancer in 1817 at Winchester, she had already published six successful novels: Sense and Sensibility, Pride and Prejudice, Northanger Abbey, Mansfield Park, Emma, and Persuasion, respectively. Jane Austen is now buried in the ancient cathedral in Winchester of her native Hampshire. Pride and Prejudice lets you travel through lives back then but also she portrays the lives of modern days. You can read it and you might be able to recall some parts of the book as your life, but in a different time period
I have been reading a book for many days. The books name is CAT AND MOUSE IN A HAUNTED HOUSE. It is telling about Geronimo Stilton who is a newspaper mouse who runs newspaper in New Mouse City—the capital of Mouse island.
On one night of October, he decided to visit his aunt, Sweetfur. But he got lost when he was driving through the Dark Forest because of the foggy. Then his car was out of gas. He thought “I wish I was at home”.
Suddenly there was a lightning in the sky and he saw a big castle. When he walked closer to the front door, he saw two stone cats and a sign that says: To Canny Cat’s castle. The door bell was in one stone cat’s mouth. When Geronimo was deciding to go into the castle, it starts to rain, so he went into the castle……
At last Geronimo’s sister, little nephew Benjamin and his cousin Trap all came and helped him find out all of two little cat. They don’t want others to come into the castle because the castle is their ancestor Canny Cat’s. So they make many tricks.
After reading this story, I think it’s very interesting, and I had a lot of fun. My favorite character is Geronimo’s nephew Benjamin. Because he is very cute and clever, he always observes every detail. He found out the foot prink on the floor and the nail on the wall. In the story it shows Geronimo is a very timid mouse that always scared himself.
I like this story very much, so I’ll still read more this set of book.
Oliver Twist, one of the most famous works of Charles Dickens’, is a novel reflecting the tragic fact of the life in Britain in 18th century.

That is to say a person without goodness is destined to lose everything. Therefore, I, a kind person, want to tell those ‘vermin-to-be’ to learn from the kind Oliver and regain the nature of goodness.
