黄健教授长期从事成人教育与人力资源开发领域的基本理论研究、研究生教学以及培训从业人员的继续教育。先后在“成人教育课程研究”、“国际终身教育与终身学习研究”等领域取得系列研究成果。黄健教授重点开拓了企业培训、人力资源开发、组织学习与学习型组织等新的研究领域，并力图以国际视野，就各类组织的战略性人力资源开发、员工培训及工作场所学习进行系统探究，形成体现终身学习特征的“工作场所学习与人力资源开发”这一新兴领域。黄健教授活跃于国际人力资源开发领域，曾经作为美国富布赖特高级研究学者，丹麦罗斯基德大学和美国伊利诺伊大学香槟校区访问学者，在美国和丹麦从事合作研究工作，并与澳大利亚、英国、德国、瑞典等知名学者有着密切的交流与合作。作为负责人先后承担了教育部及上海市课题共6项，作为主要成员参与了国家哲社课题、教育部重大课题及教育部重点课题等5项。独立撰写、主编、参编或翻译出版了9部著作，发表了50余篇学术论文，先后获得过教育部和上海市教育科研成果奖。
