The Prince and the Pauper BY Mark Twain - (1881)- PREFACE 1881 THE PRINCE AND THE PAUPER A TALE FOR YOUNG PEOPLE OF ALL AGES by Mark Twain PREFACE I will set down a tale as it was told to me by one who had it of his father, which latter had it of his father, this last having in like manner had it of his father- and so on, back and still back, three hundred years and more, the fathers transmitting it to the sons and so preserving it.

The hero of this book is the little prince from the outer planet. The book tells of the little princes journey from his own planet to earth.

Before and after the little prince visited six planets, the cruelty of the complexity of the human world and real life are the little prince cannot get the satisfactory answer of question raised by him, so he felt sad, even cry bitterly.

Later, the little prince knew fox and became a good friend with the fox. The fox also kept his secret and the "invisible nature of things that only the heart can see as a gift to the little prince."

Finally, the little prince, with the help of a viper, left earth and returned to his B612 asteroid.

The book, "once a childrens adult," is not only filled with love-hate emotions but also the brilliance of philosophy. It is a kind of thing, and the adults are used to seeing it rationally, and children tend to start from the heart.

So adults never understand childrens world. I think the little prince will come back again when the world is full of love and warmth.

The Little Prince, first published in 1943, is a novella and the most famous work of the French aristocrat, writer, poet and pioneering aviator Antoine de Saint-Exupéry (1900–1944).The novella is both the most-read and most-translated book in the French language, and was voted the best book of the 20th century in France. Translated into more than 250 languages and dialects (as well as braille),[3][4] selling nearly two million copies annually with sales totalling over 140 million copies worldwide,[5] it has become one of the top best-selling books ever published.[6][7][8][Note 3]After the outbreak of the Second World War Saint-Exupéry became exiled in North America. In the midst of personal upheavals and failing health, he produced almost half of the writings for which he would be remembered, including a tender tale of loneliness, friendship, love and loss, in the form of a young prince fallen to Earth. An earlier memoir by the author had recounted his aviation experiences in the Sahara Desert, and he is thought to have drawn on those same experiences in The Little its first publication in the United States, the novella has been adapted to numerous art forms and media, including audio recordings, radio plays, live stage, film screen, television, ballet, and operatic works.[3][10]

One could not die for you. To be sure, an ordinary passerby would think that my rose looked just like you-- the rose that belongs to me. But in herself alone she is more important than all the hundreds of you other roses: because it is she that I have watered; because it is she that I have put under the glass globe; because it is she that I have sheltered behind the screen; because it is for her that I have killed the caterpillars (except the two or three that we saved to become butterflies); because it is she that I have listened to, when she grumbled, or boasted, or even sometimes when she said nothing. Because she is my rose."
