一、立论。立论就是确定历史小论文的中心论点。即作者赞成什么，反对什么，歌颂什么，批判什么。或对某一历史人物、历史事件表示自己的观点和看法。在考虑中心论点时应注意：
1、立论的科学性
所谓立论的科学性就是作者的观点和搜集的资料信息要有理论根据和事实依据。即作者的观点要符合辩证唯物主义和历史唯物主义原理，要坚持四项基本原则，要有利于社会主义事业，讲述的史实要有依据或明确的出处，不可以想当然，更不应该凭空臆造。只有这样的立论才有价值。
2、立论的前卫性
立论的前卫性就是超前意识。立论要新，就是要写没有人写过或很少有人写过的题材。这就要求学生对近几年的学术动态应该有大致的了解，以免撞车，还有人云亦云之嫌。
3、立论的指导性
