英语教学中合作型课堂写作教学模式的研究论文
摘要:写作是语言综合运用能力的表现,是听、说、读、写中最难掌握的。本文通过分析初中学生写作水平的现状以及新课标下的写作要求,来研究新课程背景下的合作型课堂写作教学模式。
关键词:英语课堂;合作写作;合作批改
一、背景
新课标对初中学生的英语写作(五级)有明确要求:①运用词汇描述事物行为和特征,说明概念等;②能根据要求写简单的书信、便条、通知等;③能按要求转述所听、所读的内容;④能为图片提供汉字说明,并能表达自己的观点。可见,课标注重学生思维能力和语言综合运用能力的培养。
学生在用英语写作时受到思维能力、语言表达能力及语法错用的制约,会出现:①思维敏捷,有想法却拙于文字者;②有思维能力不佳,不知如何写者;③有受母语的迁移,写作时,汉语式英语现象屡屡可见者;④有短文前后逻辑关系不清、动词形式、时态错用、句型使用有误见怪不怪者。
随着新一轮课改的全面实施,英语教学领域里的写作教学也应改革。首先,身处课改第一线的中学教师需与时俱进,改变教学思路。写作不能仅仅理解成个人的行为,因此在教学中不宜总是采取学生单独写出作文来让教师批改的模式,而应该提倡学生开展两人或数人小组活动,通过讨论合作完成写作。合作学习是一种学习策略,它要求组员通过交流思想共同完成一项学习任务。把合作型教学理念运用于英语写作教学实际中,让学生觉得脑中有东西可写,写时少犯错误,达到引起学生写作发生某些变化的目的。
二、合作型课堂教学理念在英语写作教学中的尝试
(一)写作:由个人写作发展到合作写作
1.教师在课堂上可以设计与教学内容有关的写作任务,要求学生以小组为单位共同完成一个项目,并写出项目报告。例如,笔者在上Book II语法比较级时,要求4人小组讨论并记录每个成员的Weight, Height, Age, English mark,然后学生组织句子:I am older (fatter, better…) than…/… is taller than me /…最后通过交流总结,形成总结性报告文字。这一活动中的合作学习调动了学生说和写的积极性和兴趣。在小组活动中,他们能够自由表达、交流自己的思想,使学生增加了语言的输入,觉得有东西可写。
2.单元小结课,可以让学生采用小组合作交流的形式来复习归纳本单元的学习要点、难点、重要短语、语法和句子,然后把这些学过的知识运用到写作中(即缩写)。例如复习Book III Unit 1,一组学生把对话和文章联合进行单元内容串联写作:One day, I had nothing to do. So I went to the library to borrow a book. 接着插入与librarian的对话,简介书本内容,以及书本失而复得这些情节。经过讨论、模仿,所写文章虽模式一样,但细节各不同。可见,此合作活动充分发挥了学生的思维想象力和创造力。
3.利用报刊文摘进行文章合作扩写、续尾
教师提供材料和简单提示,如下面的文章:In USA, a day-old baby girl was taken from her mother’s hospital room. A nurse in the hospital tries to take her away. The baby was found later in a quiet street not far from the hospital. She was safe.(摘自英语辅导报刊) 教师设计几个问题来协助学生扩写:Q1:How and when was the baby taken away from her mother’s hospital room? Q2: Why did the nurse take away the baby? Q3: What did the hospital and the baby’s family do after they knew it was taken away?
至于续写,教师可以去掉原文结尾The baby was found…让学生发挥合理想象,通过集体的智慧,启发个人思维,促进写作。
4.作文课上,进行专门的写作训练
(1)写作前,教师给学生布置作业,要求学生就习作题目查找相关的信息,然后集体共同交流,资源共享。
(2)教师提供相关的范文若干篇,并分析其结构。
(3)教师组织小组讨论,学生在讨论中相互启发,形成初步的写作框架。
(4)学生自己写草稿。
(5)组员相互修改。
(6)学生在听取其他同学或教师的意见后修改草稿,最后定稿。
在合作完成写作任务的过程中,学生能够充分发挥其学习的积极性和主动性,实现彼此间的互动,学生有了兴趣,就愿望去写,这就成功达到了提高学生写作的第一个要求,第二就是如何让学生在写作中少犯错误,可采取学生自查自改的策略,以及经常性的进行写作注意事项的指导。
(二)批改:由教师面批、细批发展到学生互批
教师应面批、细批学生作文,以便发现学生存在的错误,及时加以纠正,这是大多数教师一直在做的,但是红色叉叉、问号和删除线,有时不仅不能引起学生的注意,反而会打击学生的积极性。
新课程要求学生主动参与,学生是写作的主体,亦应成为批改的主体,让学生共同合作完成批改任务,教师可以组织学生以小组为单位,按“好、中、差”搭配的原则3~4个学生组成一个互批小组,批改要求:
1.挑选靓句,分享优秀作文
先由个人找出作文中的靓句,然后在小组内部交流讨论,小组公认的靓句在全班大声朗读,其次把公认的好作文拿出来让大家分享。目的是让别的学生从同学的作文中学到一些写作技巧,得到一种有效的'示范,使作者获得一种成就感和满足感,起到鼓励作用。
2.修改缺陷
英语作文中经常会出现比较集中的错误,教师可帮助学生罗列如下:时态(be有没有多或少,动词第三人称正确与否,动词过去式、过去分词形式是否正确);语态(主动还是被动);名词单复数(a/an是否漏掉或错用);词性(是形容词还是副词);有没有注意英汉思维的差异(时间、地点同时出现时,英语中却先提地点,后提时间);汉语中因为……所以……、虽然……但是……在英语中只用一个;是不是用了Chinglish的句子;固定短语等方面的错误,教师要求学生批改并归纳,学生整理的结果:一是单句改错,二是短文改错,三是文中欠连接词,造成全文欠生动。
3.比照练习
作为写作批改的自然延伸和最终目的,再练习是至关重要的,比照上一次的作文,再写一篇类似题目或内容的作文,即订正扩写,会起到巩固提高的作用。
经过多次训练,大部分学生具有了初步修改的能力,让学生互批互改作文比起教师自己动手精心批改,有更好的效果,学生在互批中发现问题,进而思考、讨论、争论以自求解答。同时,这种活动具有启发性或激疑性,具有导思功能,学生在平时的写作中会比较重视时态、短语、语法及句子的组织,这种方式胜过教师无数遍说教式的讲解。
合作写作,启发了学生写作思维,让学生感到有东西可写;合作批改,自觉消灭了学生写作中很多常见错误;而背诵一些好句子好文章是促进写作的又一方面。
(三)诵读:多读、多背佳句、佳篇
美国作家舒伯特说:“Reading is writing.”这就是说,熟读对写作是很重要的。平时注意好词好句的积累,掌握常用文体的写作方法,用生动的语言创造动感的画面,写作中巧妙套用课本中的段落和句子。
写作教学是一个过程教学,它需要坚定的基础,这个基础就是词、句型及语法的合理结合——句子,所以,平时学生要多听、多读、多记单词短语句子、多背诵优秀范文,这一活动也可以通过合作来帮助学生写作。
分享资源,学生可以获得很多的佳句佳篇;背诵,学生可以掌握更多的短语知识。学生在写作过程中经常使用固定短语可使文笔流畅,写作速度加快。背诵课文对提高学生的口语和写作能力大有益处。
三、总结
以上是英语写作教学过程中,笔者在教学实践中尝试的合作型活动,在运用合作教学法对学生进行写作训练时,学生从没东西可写到有东西可写,从不会修改到会修改,其写作中的思维能力和表达能力得到了稳步提高。研究表明,这是一项有效的合作活动。但是要写出一篇佳作须考虑以下环节:设计(design),选词(choose words),造句(make sentences),写作(write a passage),润色(polish),实现学生高层次的写作需求,还应帮助学生树立远大的目标和建立长期的计划,使写作成为一种学生内在的需求,并对之保持长期的兴趣。
