The research on light emitting principle of the fireflies has gone further and deeper in recent years. As green technology are getting more and more acknowledged by the public, it becomes ever more meaningful for the current lighting technology to adopt new innovation borrowing from the light emitting principle of the fireflies.
In this thesis, I/we will make an in-depth analysis on fireflies, explain in detail of their underlying ability to emit lights. I/we will also discuss the characteristics of cold light, of luciferin and its oxidation process, and of luciferase; and how all these served as an inspiration to the research and development of the highly efficient cold-light illumination technology.
